Amy Dagenais is a singer-songwriter and native of Perth, Ontario now based out of Ottawa. She began her music career early, helping her parents with their music ministry. It was through the example of her father and his own love of songwriting that she began writing her own simple songs at the age of 10. At age 14 she finally picked up a guitar, and she was hooked. This love of music and writing carried on through high school, eventually leading her in 2006 to the Hillsong International Leadership College in Australia. There, she studied in the Worship and Creative Arts program, majoring in Guitar and minoring in Vocal. After returning to her hometown, Amy became an active participant on her church's worship team, singing harmonies and playing percussion on instruments such as djembe and cajon.
In 2011, she moved to Ottawa, Ontario where she began seeking out the opportunity to record her own songs. It was then that she met producer Sebastian Demrey (Héritage Musique and GMA Canada's 2012 Producer of the Year) through a mutual friend and recording artist, Geneviève Falleur. Since the release of Amy's EP album entitled "No Ladders" in October of 2013, she has received 3 nominations by the Canadian Gospel Music Association for "New Artist of the Year", "Folk Album of the Year" and "Folk Song of the Year". The EP is a simple and honest reflection of her own personal devotion to Jesus Christ. She would say that it is purely the grace of God that has allowed her to share the good news of the Gospel with others through what she loves: music.
Amy is now in the process of presenting her album around Ontario and beyond while writing for her 2nd, full length album.
